„Nat- K“ stands for „not okay“. In the battle-scene you’re not supposed to choose your battle-name yourself, since its being considered ignorant towards the culture.
Nat-K has been given to me her from Bgirl Lady Gameova, who has been watching me battling for some time as I started. With this being said „not okay“ is a positive way to describe the creative way of presenting the music and surprising with individual elements as well as diversity in simplicity.
Unlike most dancers I did not start at a young age, au contraire: coming from an athletic family my foundations in body- awareness come from running and swimming. Inspired by my grandparents who had been working as artists (dancer and singer) I started joining „open floors“, freestyle sessions and taking classes after graduating high school. And guess what ?!
I fell in love with dance. I discovered a hidden passion and quickly decided that DANCE is my future.
I consider myself a diverse dancer, that started off with Hiphop, Bboying and Waacking.
Briefly after I discovered Dancehall, House, Vogue, African Styles, Heels and the beauty of „Urban Contemporary“ which is basically a fusion of Contemporary with Hiphop and Bboying. Quickly I understood the importance of ballet and contemporary training, meaning I took these classes in order to have a dance foundation, which later on proved it ́s importance in being a all style dancer.
My main styles turned out to be:
Hiphop, Waacking, Vogue and commercial Afro styles
Always hungry for knowledge I keep educating myself in every style. Getting to know the culture and background is very important. Not only to me as a dancer, but also teacher.
Dancers are „forever students“ which means there is never enough training or enough „wisdom“ which is why I constantly aim for more. Taking classes, training individually, learning from others, traveling and expanding her horizon.
